Your special day is coming up. Maybe it is a date, a reunion or a job interview, and you want to drop a few pounds. Losing weight is a balance between cutting calories, burning calories, and exercise.
There are foods out there that sabotage the first two goals. And if you want to lose weight quickly, we’ve complied a list of the 12 worst food that you must stay away from if you want to lose weight fast.
Losing all that weight is a healthy goal and starting by cutting out these twelve foods will help you be healthier in the long run.

1. Quit the Sugar
If you want to lose weight, cut out sugar. That mean soft drinks, fruit juices, cookies, pastries, candy bars. An average soft drink has 8 teaspoons of sugar, roughly 72 calories. To burn off one 8-ounce soft drink, you need to take 1440 steps (half a mile).
Since most Americans don’t walk very far, chances are that one soft drink will get deposited on your hips and belly.

2. Say No to Processed Food
Sugar hides in processed food. You might be going for that healthy salad, but your salad dressing is probably packed with sugar. So is your ketchup, barbeque sauce, and even mustard.
Open your cabinets and randomly pick out a favorite. The odds are there is a lot of sugar in it but it may be listed under one of sugar’s many names.
Processed foods also have a lot of salt, but we’ll talk about salt later. You’ll be shocked!
3. Artificial Sweeteners
Don’t replace sugar with artificial sweeteners. These trick your body into thinking it is about to get something sweet. When your body doesn’t get the expected calories, it’s regulation method gets confused. Your body wants its promised calories and will provide you with cravings to make sure it gets them!
In fact, there is a lot of evidence that eating artificial sweeteners actually makes you gain weight.
It’s hard to skip the sweet stuff, but you want to lose weight fast.
4. Skip the Chips
Anything fried, no matter what oil you use, is hard on the waist line. If you are trying to lose weight fast, run from chips and French fries. And fried chicken. And tater tots. And bacon.
With a lot of these foods, it is easy to overeat after all, who can stop at just one chip? You do need some oils, like omega-3. Get those from eating fish like salmon. Just don’t fry it first!
5. Ban the Bread
White bread is bad for your waistline. In fact, eating two slices of white bread a day is linked to a 40% greater risk of gaining weight. To lose weight, skip anything with white flour in it! That means white bread, pastries, cake, and breaded items.
White bread has a high glycemic index. It is also generally high in added sugar.
Try to eat whole grain bread for quicker weight loss. But don’t eat a lot of bread, regardless!
6. Give Up the Booze
You know why guys (and gals) who drink a lot of beer tend to sport a beer belly? Hint – it is the beer. There are a lot of empty calories in beer. Most beers average between 60 and 100 calories per serving.
To go back to our step analogy, your going to have to walk about half a mile a beer. If you are trying to lose weight fast, cut out the beer and go easy on other alcohols.
7. No More Blonde Coffees
All the caffeine in coffee may help burn calories. If you add sugar, flavorings, and creamer, you will offset any benefit from the caffeine. Since we’ve already talked about sugar and artificial sweeteners, let’s look at creamer.
Cream and whole milk contain a lot of fat to help baby calves become big cows. The fat is perfectly happy to help you grow as well. Non-dairy creamer is made of transfats. Those are linked to heart, brain function, and hormonal problems.
8. Salt and Bloating
Salt is important to keep your body function properly. The issue is getting too much salt. When you eat processed food, fries and chips, and other high salt food, your body hangs onto water, so it can dilute the amount of salt in your body and maintain proper salt levels.
To lose weight quickly, cut back on salt. You will shed any water weight. Most Americans get plenty of salt in their diet so cutting back won’t hurt you.
9. Forget the Fruit Juice
Fruit juice contributes to weight gain. Don’t drink it to lose weight. Most fruit juice is very highly processed with a lot of added sugar. Since juice doesn’t contain fiber, your body won’t feel full.
Fruit juice is also pasteurized, killing both bad bacteria but also damaging all the good nutrients in the original fruit.
Eating a piece of fruit gives you both fiber and chewing, so you will feel full longer.
Skip the juice, eat the fruit.
10. Pan the Pizza
Pizza provides a lot of the important food groups. Unfortunately, they fall on the really unhealthy side of food group.
From the bottom up – white flour crust (sugar). Sauce (sugar). Pepperoni (fats, trans fats, salt, and nitrates – none of these are conducive to weight loss!) Cheese (Fat. Lots of fat.) Good stuff – the veggies that many people pick off. All told, pizza is not diet food.
If you want to lose weight quickly, don’t eat pizza.
11. Ice Cream
This seems pretty obvious. Ice cream is full of fat and sugar. The more good things in the ice cream, the higher the calorie count. Saturated fat is high as well. Ice cream is next to pizza as an anti-diet food.
But because you are looking at giving up practically everything you love, here’s a treat. Rice milk, sorbettos, and lowfat milk ice cream are marginally better for you. They still have lots of sugar, so don’t overdo it.
Losing weight quickly takes almost more determination than losing it over the long term. It can be really hard on your health as well, so try your hardest not to regain all the weight you’ve lost.
Read labels for added sugar, salt, preservatives, and fats to help your body shed the pounds. Eat health food and moderate your amounts.
Don’t forget to include the most important part of weight loss, exercise. As you cut out all these foods, remember to take a walk or hit the gym. Exercise will help your body sheds those extra pounds.
